column lock malfunction

Hi all!

My car (1971 2000 MkII Estate Auto PAS RHD) missed the recent TUEV (german MoT) with only three failures: front wheel bearing, hand brake and column lock - but the last one could be difficult: The column lock locks with the key inserted - when you turn the key to '0' (from ignition or running) and move the wheel a little it locks, which is too early, according to the manual it should 'pre-set' the lock and actually lock when the key is removed. Is this behaviour repairable? (If not: who knows a supplier of these locks? 160337 according to Rimmers, but not available anymore!)
