No, I've got no idea about wiper pressures. I remember there once was a crappy accessory that was claimed to force the blades onto the screen...... as I recall in certain conditions it worked as a wing and lifted the wiper arms!
More helpfully, is there any wax or silicone deposits on the glass? That's the main reason I don't use car wash machines, and when I wash the car by hand I'm really careful not to get wax on the glass. That Rain stuff mentioned elsewhere is good, I used to bring it back from the States when it wasn't available here.
