I imagine the guy I get parts from charges the same as Chris Witor. That Practical Classics mag has a good few ads each month.... maybe worth checking.
Yep, I think it's unlikely someone has a recon auto 'box they want to get shot of, unless it's a recon-and-then-worn-out-again 'box! Seriously, find the auto rebuild shop your local black-cab drivers use...... you can even get it uprated for towing/performace. You need the converter and oil cooler done at the same time because a dying 'box will contaminate the fluid, and any of this left in the system will kick off the new 'box's decline, not to mention converters eventually go wrong too.
Don't know which 'box you have, but I'm finding I enjoy the 65 more than the 35, but both 35's I've had have been old, '65 and '68. Mind you, my 65 is old too come to think of it ('77) and done over 90,000, so maybe it's just a better 'box?
Anyway, good luck, Adrian.
