But is the S with that cam (and carbs jetted correctly) as good performace as a standard 132BHP PI (ignoring other modifications)?

How would fuel consumption compare between these? On my 2000 (HS6, lightened flywheel, sports exhaust, 3.45 diff) I get between 20 and 25MPG round town (struggles to accelerate as quickly as I want it to on 3.45) but on motorway gets 34MPG @ 80MPH. Although my best was an amazing 42MPG on standard unleaded! This was however slip-streaming my dad with his caravan down the motorway at 60MPH with the overdrive on all the way!
